Description of Services Provided:
The Coach Travel Group was appointed as the exclusive provider of Park & Ride transport services for the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club, supporting the movement of over 120,000 spectators across the six-day tournament.
The operation involved the coordinated deployment of 87 high-capacity coaches across multiple Park & Ride sites, delivered through a network of Group operators including Horseman Coaches, Stewarts Coaches, Swans Travel, and Johnsons Coaches. Services were centrally managed through the Group’s event control function and supported by dedicated on-site operational teams.
The Coach Travel Group undertook comprehensive pre-event planning in collaboration with the European Tour’s transport and crowd management teams, including route risk assessments and journey time modelling to optimise traffic flow and minimise congestion.
Live operations included real-time fleet monitoring, driver scheduling, and shift compliance, supported by telematics systems and continuous communication between control teams, site supervisors, and client representatives. Passenger flow and queue management were actively managed to maintain steady transfer rates during peak periods.
The operation was delivered in close coordination with Surrey Police, local authorities, and traffic management partners, ensuring efficient ingress and egress across all locations. Accessibility requirements were met through the deployment of PSVAR-compliant vehicles at all key sites.
At peak, 87 coaches were in operation daily, delivering an average transfer time of under 10 minutes door-to-door. The service was delivered with no reported delays or vehicle downtime, demonstrating a high level of operational reliability and control.
This successful delivery demonstrates The Coach Travel Group’s ability to manage high-frequency, high-volume spectator transport operations within a controlled event environment, ensuring efficiency, safety, and stakeholder coordination comparable to UEFA EURO 2028.
